Last year, the Countdown to Christmas advent calendar was a customer favourite and Stampin' Up! included it in the Mini Catalogue again this year. The boxes can be turned around and another design can be created - I have seen some people do a count down to a birthday and even Halloween. I decided to create an alternate design for this years holiday.
I started off by selecting designs from Feels Like Frost DSP, like the calendar, this DSP was also carried over from last years Mini Catalogue. I cut 25 squares measuring 2" x 2" each and then using the retired 1" circle punch, I punch a half circle at the top of each square. I think the most difficult part of the project was deciding the sequencing of the DSP!
Next I cut out the advent calendar numbers using the playful alphabet dies and the Stampin' Up Cut & Emboss Machine or aka Florence by the crafters who come to The Squires Shecave classes! I used purple posy cardstock to compliment the silver and purple shades in the DSP. When I placed the numbers on the DSP I felt it needed something else, so I cut circles in whisper white and highland heather cardstock using a die from the tasteful label metal dies - these dies are so versatile. I adhered the numbers to each box using dimensions.
To finish off the calendar I added a few snowflakes to some of the boxes. I used the smallest snowflake die from the snowflake splendor suite and cut snowflakes using purple posy cardstock and silver foil and toped each one with a rhinestone. I just love how it looks.
