Mystery Stamping!

I have been creating Christmas projects since August so I thought I would change it up and make a simple birthday card for a mystery stamping event I hosted with my team this weekend.  If you have never participated in a mystery stamping event you really should try it out.  Everyone is provided the same instructions but each card turns out different.

Here are the instructions I shared with everyone before the meeting:

  • Cardbase: 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2"4
  • Coordinating DSP: 1 3/4" x 4" and 1 1/4" x 4"
  • Small stamp image or punch
  • Coordinating cardstock for sentiment
  • Small sentiment
  • Punch or die to cut out the sentiment
  • Embellishments
  • Tag topper (optional)
I then provided the following instructions to everyone while participating in a virtual team meeting:
  • Cut off a 1 1/2" strip on one end of the cardbase
  • Then another 2" strip - on the same end
  • Burnish the scored line and add your DSP to the first 1 1/2" strip you cut and the other piece of DSP to the short side of the cardbase.
  • Now for the 2" piece you cut from the cardbase - if you have a tag topper punch use that to decorate the top, then use the the products and tools you have assembled to design the 2" piece. Note: this piece will end up being vertical on your card.
  • Once that is done, take the 1 1/2" piece you cut off and realign where is should be on the cardbase and using the 2" piece you have just designed, turn it vertically and adhere in place - this will now reattach the bottom 1 1/2" piece you first cut off.
Here is the card I created:

I used the small bloom punch to punch out three small flowers in night of navy, calypso coral and smoky slate cardstock, adding an elegant faceted gem to the centre of each one.  I used a bold sentiment from the many mates stamp set and cut it out with a die from the tasteful touches metal dies. I assembled all the pieces and finished it off with some night of navy ribbon.

I used playing with patterns DSP - it is perfect for birthdays cards - nice bright, fun colours.

It was a nice change to make the birthday card, I have a Stampin' Bingo event - my first class of 2021 - and I think I may incorporate a card like this in that class.

Diamond Easel Card

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card for an extra special lady who is turning 80 soon - one of my regular crafters (she is not on social media so I know I am safe sharing it here!).  At a recent class she had loved the Forever Fern DSP and the colours we had used, so I knew this is what I had to use to make this card for her. The card is a diamond easel fold which is very easy to make, you do need 12"x12" cardstock as you need a 6"x12" piece of cardstock to make the cardbase. I had a pack of in-colour 12"x12" cardstock, so I used a piece of Just Jade as the base colour and then used Pretty Peacock for all the mats. I selected two different DSP designs from the Forever Greenery pack. I used the Forever Fern stamp set to create a bouquet of foliage using a variety of green tone inks - Pretty Peacock, Shaded Spruce and Just Jade. I added a large Just Jade leaf at the back of the bouquet to bring everything together, added champagne foil 80 and finished off ...

Many Messages!

Are you one of those crafters who struggles with stamping sentiments - always worried whether it will be straight or stamped clearly?  Well here is the perfect bundle for you - Many Messages.  The bundle comes with a stamp set and metal die. The stamp is fairly large so I decided to use my Stamparatus to stamp the image to ensure I get a clear stamped image and can reink and stamp again if needed - I love the Stamparatus for that. Look at all those sentiments and the different fonts, 19 sentiments in total! I used the Stampin Cut & Emboss Machine along with the coordinating metal die to cut out all of the sentiments. How easy is that?  19 sentiments in just a few moments,  use different coloured cardstock and ink and you will have sentiments for all your projects. I decided to stamp the sentiments using the white kraft ink on black cardstock to showcase all the sentiments. I select the ones related to a birthday and covered the whole card with them. I add s...
